God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. 1st Corinthians 1:9 NIV
This was the day he had looked forward to for some time. He waited patiently as the other children went first. He was the last one to step into the water before the whole congregation. His heart was beating fast as he approached the preacher. They turned to face his parents and friends. Then, with only a few words and a quick prayer, he heard the words, “I now baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.” The water fell from his face as the preacher lifted him out of the water and into a new life. Or so he thought.
The process that our David lived the day he was baptized affected him deep inside his heart. But the world was not finished with him yet. In the years to come his own church would make him uncomfortable enough that he would stop attending. Parties and other interests would steal his time and lead him from the faith he had as a child. But the call had been made! God has spoken! His invitation is not about the good or the bad of this earth. His call is to fellowship with His Son! Have we heard that call?
