Of What?

Of What

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.                    1st Corinthians 1:21  NIV

In his early twenties, David found himself living far from his hometown and family.  Encouraged by a friend, he attended a youth meeting…  The room was packed and as promised, there were several attractive young ladies.  But it soon became evident that this preacher was determined to preach the immorality out of the lives of the youth sitting before him.  David left the meeting that night with the same emptiness inside as he had before he went in.

As Christians, we need to be very careful about what we are selling.  We must be very clear where our focus is.  People need God!  Empty hearts need Christ!  Our wisdom, our morals, our efforts will never get us anywhere without the personal connection that we each need to make with our Lord!  Our worldly-minded David was missing God because he wanted to meet the right people.  Our preacher had other pressing issues.  But hungry hearts are starving without God because their wisdom fails to bring them into contact with Jesus.  Shall we pray that we all can see past our issues, and our world, and find our Savior in real experience today?

Dear Lord,

Teach us to be wise with our time and our words.  Let our intimate and rewarding walk with You inspire and assist others in discovering, the wisdom of knowing You, we pray!

Amen
