We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.  1^st Corinthians 2:12  NIV

He stepped cautiously up to the pulpit.  All eyes were on him.  It was graduation day and the whole community showed up.  He had been elected by the class to give a speech.  But as the boy looked out over the crowd, the stage-fright and shyness overcame him.  He opened his mouth but only the tiniest sound came out.  Kind hands tried to place the microphone closer to his mouth.  But his speech went as unheard as if it had never been given.

Mankind has also been the audience to a great message from God.  The Bible, prophets, and preachers have all delivered the Lord´s wishes to us.  Our Savior taught at length to instruct us on the proximity and importance of God and our relationship with Him.  Who is receiving this message?  What are we learning?  What has God´s message given us?  Have we gained a set of standards to live by?  Or have we received God Himself?  Are we being ushered into a relationship, a bond, and an intimate walk?  Shall we pray today, that what God has truly given us is Himself in the sweetest joy of companionship and love?

Dear Lord,

We want more than a name, a social club, and a fine living.  We want to know You and revel in the time we can spend with You each day from now to eternity!  Let us embrace the gift you have given in giving us a walk with You, we pray!
