And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1st Corinthians 6:11 NIV
Disillusioned with life, a man returned to church. For many years he had walked in the ways of the world. He devoted himself to prayer and Bible study. His life changed. The biggest changes he made were in leaving his job and the community where he lived. But much of the world stayed with him. He was still very focused on finding the perfect place to live and the right job to have. One could speculate or doubt that a change had even been made. Could there still be hope for our searching Christian?
Many times we focus upon the legalistic quality of being saved. We convince ourselves. We make the changes to our lifestyles that hopefully demonstrate we are sincere. But then we stop there; half empty and half full. A change has begun, but until we are standing full in the Presence of God, the process is not yet finished. So what is the difference? We are not justified by using the name of Jesus Christ alone. We must move by the Spirit of God! This is the real change! Our hearts are to become the home of the Lord! The Spirit is to live in us! He will fill us in exactly the amount of Him that we seek to be filled with. Could we each stop what we are doing, and seek to be moved by the Spirit in us now?
Please help us past our misconceptions and our disillusions! Teach us to seek being filled with You above all else, we pray!
