But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. 1st Corinthians 7:2 NIV
She came from a well-to-do family. She had been planning her wedding since a child. The only thing that was missing was a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet. Her family was a good Christian family with high morals and values. Not just any boy would do, and with the family´s economic status, there were many boys jumping at the chance to marry her. But finally, she met a boy who won the approval of the whole family. In no time at all she had her ring, her dress, the wedding and honeymoon booked. All was to be paid for by her daddy. Unfortunately, the boy tried to slow things down. She went into depression. The wedding got called off.
We live in an age of immorality. It thrives on the cultures and media of today. To help us combat the pull towards earthly nature, God gives us marriage. But we do not need to go running off chasing humans. God is to remain our first love. God should still be the One on our mind! We can always use a little help in keeping our focus upon the Lord. But our encouragement is to be ever closer and more dependent upon God. So whether we walk alone with our Savior or with someone else by our side, shall we pray that Christ is forever the love of our lives?
Whether we have someone else by our side or not, help us keep our focus on You and not ourselves, we pray!
