Not To Restrict

Not To Restrict

I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.  1st Corinthians 7:35  NIV

They met at work.  She was a fiery young lady.  He was happy-go-lucky.  Soon they were going out.  They had a lot of friends in common.  As time went by, their colors began to show more and more.  Sometimes she could be quite harsh.  He was a bit naïve and too soft for her explosive character.  Eventually, friends who knew her more intimately began to tell him to be careful with his heart.  They cared for them, both and did not want him to get hurt.  In time the relationship ended without ever causing either one too much pain.  All thanks to the warnings and encouragement of their friends who loved them.

God has sent us messages too.  His messengers come to us not to restrict us or to spoil our lives, our fun, or to make us bitter and lonely people.  Far from that, the Lord´s intentions are that we are free from restraint to come unto Him.  He would have His children close to Him in heart and soul.  We can take our encouragement as mandates to follow or strict rules to obey.  Or we can see that Christ is guiding us ever closer to the Father.  Nothing is to restrict our hearts from growing closer in Spirit each day!  Shall we pray that we embrace His kind messages and step nearer to Him now?

Dear Lord,

Thank You for sending us messages to guide us!  Now help us see through Your Word, how to make it successfully into Your arms unhindered and undistracted forever, we pray!
