Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. 1st Corinthians 8:1 NIV
Two men shared a couple of interests together. Both had owned a Landrover and both men were Christians. Whenever they got together they would share experiences they had with their 4x4s. Then the conversation would turn to the Bible. One man knew exactly where each text could be found. The other man was pleased to listen to the intellectual light brought by his friend´s Scriptural knowledge. Yet something was missing in these moments they shared. The Presence of the Holy Spirit just was not felt. A great knowledge of the Bible was presented, but it was as if the Lord was not there with them to be savored or adored.
Knowledge has a way of puffing up the one who possesses it. We feel somehow superior and that we need to instruct the lesser versed. A person who knows it all can be forgiven, but in dealing with the Lord, it can be tragic. We need God and we need His Son! We need the Lord with us and we need to radiate love! Nothing in the world should hold us back from a vibrant relationship with Him, not even our own wisdom! Shall we pray that our knowledge of the Scriptures or of religion will never get in the way of sharing our love for Him or robs us of our precious moments with Him?
As our knowledge of You grows, do not let us forget how much we need You with us! Fill us with Your love, we pray!
