One God, One Christ

One God, One Christ

yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.  1st Corinthians 8:6  NIV

The preacher stood at the front and led the song service himself.  It was a small community church but people came from all around.  They came from all different religious backgrounds.  But they did not come to discuss their differences.  They came to worship.  Some drove from an hour away just to be together and feel closer to the God they loved.  Some had grown up serving a God of rules.  Some had been taught to worship a God of freedom.  But there in that simple chapel, they brought their hearts to the One true God.  Those worshippers came to feel closer to Jesus Christ and to feed off of the Holy Spirit that filled that room and service.

People bow to an endless number of “gods”.  Many people even set themselves up as little gods that are to be waited on hand and foot.  But the Bible offers us a God far higher.  Our God is not One we create, manipulate to our liking, or flatter by our approval.  The God Who made us, keeps us, and saves us, waits for souls that search only for Him.  Who would bow before His throne?  Who will seek the One above?  Who will still go out of their way to find the One God and One Christ that is bigger than them all?

Dear Lord,

Let us approach You on bended knee to be blown away with Your majesty, might, and love!  Let us come to the only One Who made us, keeps us and Who saves us, we pray!

Amen
