They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 1st Corinthians 10:3-4 NIV
Before the Olympic Games, organizers prepared a team of players to visit China. They took professional players from the NBA, the CBA, and a show for the half-time entertainment. They traveled around China for several weeks, playing against China´s team to raise awareness and to prepare for the Olympics. They stayed in hotels where the red carpet was rolled out for them. In each hotel, the chefs laid out their finest dishes. But the athletes were not used to the food and struggled to find it appetizing. At their complaints, the organizers found a chef who knew how to cook fries, hamburgers, and other American dishes. He was asked to travel with them and cook foods that the team could eat.
When the travelers returned to the United States, some of them bent down and kissed the floor. They were happy to return to customs, foods, and drinks that they were used to. As Christians, we should know that what we have always been fed with is not what the world believes we are fed with. We are fed with spiritual food and nourished by spiritual drink. We may focus on noodles, burgers or rice. But should we rather look to the Rock? Should we remember that it is from Christ that we truly drink and are fed?
Dear Lord,
Open our eyes to see that all in this life comes from You! Remind us often so we can thank You for Your care, we pray!
Amen
