No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. 1st Corinthians 10:20 NIV
A Christian man went to visit some old friends of his. They asked him if they could tell him his fortune. They knew some technique that they said worked and that it would be interesting. But he had misgivings. His faith was only beginning to grow and he had only recently tried to turn from chasing the world and seeking God first. But he could not remember or quote any texts in the Bible that supported his discomfort. So the small party continued with the ritual. In the end, the results were not clear and they had to give up and talk about other things. He left their house still feeling uneasy.
Students more versed in the Scriptures would have been far better prepared to respond. They might even have been able to turn an awkward situation into a chance to glorify God or share their faith. Even though idols are nothing and other gods are not the God of Heaven, what we devote time to is important. If we turn our focus, and our attention to sorcery or rituals, we are turning in a different direction than to the Lord. This, the Bible would save us from. If we have truly given our hearts to God, then to God we should be directed. To Christ, we should be tuned. If we sit down with someone today, shall we devote our time and the efforts we spend there to bringing hearts closer to our Lord and Savior?
Let us waste not one moment or chance! Help us devote every opportunity and all our efforts, in seeking You, we pray!
