No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval. 1st Corinthians 11:19 NIV
She worked hard. More than that she cared about the children she taught. Her children loved her and were happy to learn. The school where she worked was a religious institution. They prided themselves on their high standards and their strict adherence to their denomination´s practices and beliefs. Yet she could not bring herself to join in their rituals and act as if being part of their sect was going to save her. She believed in God, but her career in that school ended when they could not convince her to be like them.
It is sad to still see churches divided. It is even sadder to watch individuals suffer under a roof where God is supposed to reside. It is disheartening to watch children of the Lord have differences which divide them and even send searching souls away empty handed. Paul teaches that it is precisely these differences that bring to light just who has the love of God in them. Could we learn to examine ourselves? Could we search our hearts before God often and with great care? Could we ask the Lord to show us if we are ever acting in a way that may demonstrate that it is not Him that lives within us? Shall we pray today that we may find the approval of God´s Spirit filling us and flooding out of us to embrace His children everywhere?
We know that even in the church we will find people who do not look always to You but to their own ways. Please guard us against that and fill us with more of Your love, we pray!
