But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way. 1st Corinthians 12:31 NIV
A family came to the end of the line. The wife was out of work and the unemployment check was about to end. His job wouldn’t cover for the family in a world where it takes two incomes. They had small children. On top of their financial threats, the house they rented and had lived in for years was up for sale. They were asked to move out. There was no place for them to go.
This may have been the story of nearly every family at some stage or another. Our plight overshadows our capabilities until we are in need of help from above. Far more than seeking spiritual gifts above what we formerly sought, we need God just to survive. We should each strive daily, to fight off complacency and seek more of the Lord. But there are times when the Lord places us in situations that are intentionally placed in our lives to display His provision, power and care. Are we ready to see the hand of God at work? Are we prepared to ask for God-sized results? Instead of praying for the Lord to help us out of our predicament, shall we ask to see a miracle? Instead of praying to Jesus to increase our spiritual gifts or our walk with Him, could we ask to be blown away with a new realization of His Presence and His care?
It is our time to pray. Whatever our situation is, let us seek more of You! If our predicament is small or large, let it bring us to a memorable turn in faith! Let us ask for greater gifts today! Let all the universe see You at work now, we pray!
