Love Never Fails

Love Never Fails

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  1st Corinthians 13:8

He met them at the airport in a hired van.  His team had returned from completing a job in another area of the world.  He was supposed to go along with them, but other obligations prevented him from going.  The next year there would be another contract.  But this business enterprise had not gone as expected due to the fact that he was not on the site.  His teammates resented his failure to accompany them.  This was the second business he had had that was ending poorly.  He wasn´t even thirty.  But he tried to put on a happy face to receive them.  He would offer them to buy him out.  They would refuse.  His only hope was to salvage the friendships.

Sure enough the next year the team signed the contract without him.  They left him with heavy bills and taxes to pay.  It took time for the hurt feelings to subside.  But years later the man came back to work.  This time he was just an employee.  But he needed the job.  Relationships were restored.  Love works miracles in this life that hard work and ambition cannot.  Human effort and abilities will reach their limits.  But not love.  The love that flows from our Lord outweighs human love as the sun outweighs the earth.  Those who have God´s love as their driving force will see miraculous results.  Shall we pray for love from above that never fails?

Dear Lord,

Fill us with Your love that will never fail us for all eternity, long after our wisdom and strength have left us, we pray!
