But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them–yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1st Corinthians 15:10 NIV
A man and his wife were down and out. They had a toddler and a newborn infant. A recession had taken their jobs. For over six months they looked for work, praying for God´s help. The month of the last unemployment check, he found himself at a large business with his resume in hand. The lady at the desk said that they were not accepting any new applicants. His heart dropped. Then she said that one of the other departments was holding interviews that day and that maybe he could speak to the manager.
He waited until after the last interview while his wife and kids sat in the car outside. The manager kindly agreed to hold one last one for him. During the interview, he tried to force a smile. The manager noticed his strain and told him that if he was selected, he would need to find his smile again. The position was in client satisfaction and public relations. By the grace of God, the man was selected. Now he could smile again. Not one day went by without the income for the family to survive. They came away with a powerful lesson in grace. It is God Who provides, not us. How might the Lord be demonstrating His grace towards us today?
Teach us again that all we have comes from You! Let us realize our dependence on You so that we let our hearts be thrown further on You in love and gratitude we pray!
