From the Dead

From the Dead

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.  1st Corinthians 15:20  NIV

They knew he was going to go.  He had been battling cancer for some time.  His friends and family prayed a lot.  But his condition got worse.  Therapy held it off for some time, but then eventually his time was up.  The Lord took his spirit.  The man fell asleep.  Those left behind felt the heavy loss.  Years after, they still feel it.  They still pray.  They take their sentiments to God.  They put their hope in the resurrection.  This is Christianity.  Bad things can happen to us now.  But this is not all there is.  Heaven awaits!  God the Father has His eternal plan.  Are we aware of how our faith in God saves us from the same despair that the unbelievers feel?

The Bible and our faith in Christ give us hope.  This hope is set in God.  We trust His character.  We know He loves us.  We know He wants to be with us.  He has more than told us so.  He sent prophets.  He sent us His Son.  God knows the pain that death causes.  He has never desired separation.  Now because He raised Jesus, we have our Way back into His arms!  Those who fall asleep in Christ are in good hands!  Hope is ours!  Our Savior rose, but He is only the first!  The day approaches!  Can we feel the hope rising up in us, to be all together with our God forever?

Dear Lord,

Our hope is in You!  Because You raise from the dead, we have more to look forward to than all we have already known.  Thrill us forever with the discoveries of Your love, we pray!

Amen
