Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God. 2nd Corinthians 2:17 NIV
Instead of the church that day, they went to hear a visiting lecturer. The speaker was an expert who had written a book. They hoped to be enlightened and come away with a new revelation or endearment to the Lord. But soon they realized that they had wasted their time. The speaker went round and round. He checked his watch often, revealing that he was only filling time. He did not dive into the theme that his hearers expected. Instead, he directed them to a table in the lobby where they could purchase his book. Without meaning to, his intentions for gaining a profit were clearly visible and his listeners went away unblessed and unfed.
It is far too easy these days. Christians may feel that they are doing the Lord a service, then, without knowing it, they step across the line. They turn a gift to God into an income. We can turn a message from above that is meant to uplift or to feed others into a job. We can get lost in what we are doing and completely forget the One we are working for and the ones who should be blessed by what we have to offer them. Shall we ask God to purify our intentions every day so that we sell what we really should be selling?
Help us to seek You and worship You like we mean it! Teach us to radiate our passion for You and or relationship with You to all those we come into contact with each day, we pray!
