Written in Spirit

Written in Spirit

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2nd Corinthians 3:3  NIV

They had not seen each other for ages.  Far too many years had gone by since they had even been in the same country.  But when they got together, it was almost like no time had gone by.  The warm feelings of friendship returned instantly.  They remembered shared experiences.  They enjoyed hearing all about where the other was in life and what they were experiencing.  They did not need to vocalize their mutual feelings of approval and closeness.  Their very hearts and spirits welling up inside them brought all the proof needed that their friendship was still strong.

We might be tempted to think our salvation, our worship, and our religion consist merely of the things we do or call ourselves.  But this is what the enemy to our souls would have us think.  What distinguishes us and makes us the Lord´s, is what is happening in our hearts and in our souls!  What makes us followers of Christ and worshippers of God is precisely what our hearts reach out for, seek for, cling to, and love!  Where we are with God is not written in paper, code or stone.  Where we are in Jesus is written in our hearts by the Spirit of the Lord!  What is the Spirit writing there now?

Dear Lord,

Help us remember You always.  Help us weigh all things with how much of You and Your Holy Spirit are written in our hearts.  Let our closeness show from deep within, we pray!

Amen
