Renewed Day-By-Day

Renewed Day-By-Day

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  2nd Corinthians 4:16  NIV

When the man started to forget things and how to get home, his family decided he couldn´t live on his own anymore.  One of his daughters took him to live with her and her family.  The aging cowboy gradually had to change his boots for softer walking shoes.  He started losing the feeling in his hands so he started putting rubber-bands on doorknobs so that he could open them.  Sometimes, in a buffet restaurant, they had to invite him to sit with them again as he would forget he had come with someone.  The years were taking their toll on his body and mind.  Can we see where our years are numbered here and we may be wasting away?

Our minds may go.  Our bodies may fail us.  We may feel that we lose more than we gain each day.  Yet in Christ, we find our hope.  Our all-consuming walk with Our Savior takes our focus off of us.  With our attention on Jesus and what He is working on in God´s great plan, we hardly notice what toll this world is taking on us.  Each and every day, as we wake to another opportunity to grow closer to our Beloved, our hearts are stretched and our spiritual muscles are strengthened.  We are renewed by each new experience and each moment shared with our Lord.  Can we feel an eternal vitality growing within us now as we seek our God day-by-day?

Dear Lord,

As life takes its toll on us here, renew us with the delightful thrill of growing closer to You each day, we pray!

Amen
