Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2nd Corinthians 5:17 NIV
There once was a man who worked in the show business. He traveled a lot and worked little. He always had some money tucked away in a bank account somewhere, and spent months at a time on vacation. Then he met a girl and settled down. He had to learn to work in normal jobs and be paid normal salaries. His extravagant holidays gave way to the not-so-easy task of day to day living in modern society. His old life gave way to raising children and looking forward to getting some family time on the weekends. How can we tell that our old worldly lives have given way to a new life to live for our Lord and Savior?
Those who have chosen to be raised to life in faith in Jesus, are called to look above the world. This earth of beautiful things and exciting thrills will continue to vie for our soul´s attention. The place where we live may not change, but something deep within us should. Where we once saw with earthly eyes, we should begin to see with spiritual eyes. Where we once looked to earthly gains and earthly desires, we should feel an ever stronger desire to be near Christ. Instead of running off to entertain ourselves, we should become aware of a deep need to spend time with our God. Where are our hearts pulling us today?
Help us let go of the old and embrace the new. Let us forget ourselves and our old desires and give our hearts reins to run to You, we pray!
