For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.  2nd Corinthians 6:2

The children filed in turn into the water in the bath at the front of a small church.  The Preacher gave some special words of blessing for the last child that stepped into the water to give his heart to Jesus.  Perhaps the Holy Spirit urged him to give this extra blessing.  But how was he to know that this same child would spend years of his life outside of the church?  How could he have imagined how far after the things of the world the boy would chase.  For the Pastor, now was the time of salvation.  How much importance are we placing on where we are right now with God?

The child in the story now seeks God again.  The story may still have a happy ending.  God may have that child in His arms to hold throughout eternity.  But that child, who is all grown up, will still need to feel the urgency each day.  That child and every other child of God will need to know how much they need their Savior.  We must never accept indifference!  We cannot afford to push off our relationship with the Lord to another day!  Now is the day of salvation!  Today decides tomorrow!  Now is when God is here to help us!  He will hear us!  Who will turn to Jesus with an urgency now that will change their lives forever?  Will we?  Will we now?

Dear Lord,

Give us a desperate sense of need for You in our lives right now, today, and every day!  Let us see we need to be right there with You always, we pray!
