as it is written: “He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little.” 2nd Corinthians 8:15 NIV
Two friends were separated for several years. They used to study the Bible together. But one felt the call to the mission fields in Africa. The other stayed home. While in the field, much time was spent spreading the Word of God, building churches and being a channel through which God´s love was spread to His children. The one who stayed home, on the other hand, had none of this. Instead, this individual experienced a great increase in personal relationship with the Lord. When they got together again, they were delighted to hear and share how God had blessed them through their experiences. Is our walk with the Lord strengthened by what we are receiving and giving to those around us too?
Paul´s encouragement was primarily teaching his churches to be there to support other churches financially. But spiritual truths can cross great gaps and instruct on many different levels. We can be blessed by his encouragement, and have our awareness heightened to other kinds of assistance that we may bring to those around us. Could we marvel at the wisdom and providence of our God? Could we pray that what little we gather today will help others? Shall we praise the Lord when what others have gathered helps us?
Thank you for bringing to Your children what they need when they need it. Let our relationship with You grow until our lives flow over with Your Spirit and bless others, we pray!
