Sow Generously

Sow Generously

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  2nd Corinthians 9:6  NIV

On her first day of class a teacher was hesitant and a bit scared.  Her students were small but there were many of them in her care.  But when she saw how adorable her students were her heart opened towards them.  Each day that she taught she poured out her love and kindness upon them.  She played with them and sang songs with them.  She invested of herself to educate and prepare these tiny children for life, even beyond what her job called for.  Her efforts were rewarded by the love and adoration of her students.  They applied themselves to her tasks in response to her kindness.  This teacher felt that she reaped more than she sowed.  Are we sowing so generously that we too will reap generously?

The Bible teaches, as does our Savior, that if we are faithful to give, then our Heavenly Father will more than lavish us with His giving.  This principle can be tested in the field of our finances, but it does not stop there.  We can sew in many other ways.  We can invest kindness, love, prayers, sharing of our faith, and in encouragement.  If we are generous enough, could we see the hand of our Lord anxious and pleased to return each of these unto us?  Shall we ask Jesus to give us a heart like his to sow generously now?

Dear Lord,

Show us how to love so that we have something to give!  Help us sow seeds of Your love so generously, that You will be in a position to receive that love generously in return, we pray!

Amen
