For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. 2nd Corinthians 11:4 NIV
The small boy tried to sit still on his father´s lap. But the service seemed to drag on. Each time they had to stand up, he blurted out loud enough for all to hear, “Not again?” When we read of Jesus and the early church, do we get the sensation that our religion has wandered far from the urgency we learned from the start? Has the Spirit that Christ promised was so close, been exchanged for a more distant one? Have we received a new gospel that makes us do a list of requirements? Where is the one that had us seeking the Presence of Jesus and getting really familiar with being with Him?
The fact is that most of the time we do put up with something less than being right where God is. What we received from the beginning was a hunger and a need for the touch of Jesus. As we grew into our church routines and daily lives, this urgency somehow gets lost. Praise the Lord for His humble servants who remind us to turn again! Could we take their encouragement today and get back to a point where we are seeking Christ like we did before? Shall we stop putting up with less and get back to spending time at our Savior´s feet and walking each step with Him?
Please don´t let us put up with anything less than living out each moment of our lives in Your Presence, we pray!
