Aim For

Aim For

Finally, brothers, good-bye. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.  2nd Corinthians 13:11  NIV

The girl was pretty.  She was talented.  She had friends.  Early in life, she had been involved in competitions and pageants.  She was used to being cheered.  She had a competitive spirit.  She learned to be disciplined so that she would not fall out of favor or lose the chance to finish well.  Even in religion, she needed to be right in the eyes of those around.  She aimed high.  Do we?

We aim for perfection.  But do we know what kind of perfection that is?  The world would sneak in to steal away our prize.  We had better get this one straight!  Are we talking about high standards?  Are we speaking of correct actions?  The God Who reigns above all that was ever created has motives just as high as His exalted throne.  We cannot afford to skimp when it comes to our hearts!  We cannot aim lower than for perfection!  Only the Lord knows what is right for us!  Who else knows what plans God has for us?  We will need to get extremely close to Him to find out!  We will need to cultivate our relationship with our Savior!  Shall we set our sights beyond the clouds?  Shall we aim to walk hand in hand each moment for the rest of our lives with Jesus our Lord and King?

Dear Lord,

Rather than let us settle for a cleaner lifestyle or higher values, let us aim for the kind of relationship with You that changes us deep inside!  Let us shoot for walking with the King of Kings today and each day forever more, we pray!

Amen
