So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Galatians 3:24 NIV
A team of gymnasts set out on their yearly tour. This year the man in charge was given a rookie that would test his patience. The new recruit was not like any of the others. He had not studied his skills in the finest universities like the rest. He did not come from the same background. The captain tried hard to convert this young rogue into a disciplined athlete. But for all his shouting and chastising, the boy continued to perform in a kamikaze, happy-go-lucky sort of style. Unfortunately for chief, the crowd liked his antics. There was just nothing that he could do make this recruit to follow the strict rules of the show. That year was rough for both of them. What about us Christians? Have the rules or the ones put in charge of us worked their wonders and led souls to Jesus?
It is increasingly more difficult to distinguish what is right and wrong. Rules, the law, and all the stricter disciplines that were put in charge to guide us should have served to teach us something. They will not be able to make us perfect. But perhaps they could bring us to see our need for a Savior. What have we learned? Have those rules that made our lives difficult helped us? Have those of who have been put in charge of instructing others realized that we should actually be seeing hearts led to Jesus Christ?
Help us to see that everything that has ever been put in charge should work its miracle and bring us closer to You. Let us come now so that our faith can grow, we pray!
