But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. Galatians 5:5 NIV
The woman got married to a Christian man. Her experience with the church had not been that positive. There were too many shady characters pushing others to be like them. It did not sit well with her good sense. But she loved her husband and he doted her with love. She knew where he stood on God, but they did not talk about it much because feelings always got hurt. He was not yet a perfect a follower of Christ. She saw her husband´s weaknesses. She knew his failures. But could she or anyone else say where the Lord was still working in that man´s life? Do we know what hope we could have now through a little faith in the Spirit of God?
Our becoming a Christian does not instantly take the world out of us. We can improve much in how we act and in our dealings with other people. The more we walk with the One who gave His life to save us, the more we will reflect the loving character of Jesus. We can´t make ourselves perfect. But we can edge in close and remain near the One who is perfect and whose righteousness will one day allow us to stand in the Presence of the Almighty God! Could we all pray today that the Spirit is able to work His miracles of righteousness in our hearts as we grow closer to Christ?
Do not let us hinder Your work of righteousness in our hearts. Let us draw so near to our Savior, that His sacrifice performs its purifying work in us and covers all our failures, we pray!
