remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. Ephesians 2:12 NIV
A romantic notion drove a young couple to an island to start a new life together. But very soon they felt the isolation from the comfort of family and friends. They had been raised in Christian homes, but now, they felt far from that too. They had no one to nurture their faith. They did not belong to a family of believers. They felt at times like they were foreigners to promise, without hope and without God. Have we ever felt like we have been separated from Christ?
The Good News is that God is not far from any of us! The Lord´s call for us to turn and to seek to be with Him is for everyone. Anyone who recognizes the distance and a need has this blessed hope. If we look, we can find. If we listen, we can hear. It may take an island or earthly isolation for us to recognize how far we are from God. But if and when we do, hope is not far off. Our God is the God of restoration, mercy, and love. He can save souls that have wandered far and souls that never left, but just forgot to seek to be with Him each day! Could we remember today as we struggle to get by, that Jesus will be right there with us if we only turn to Him? Shall we cuddle in close and trust in His care?
Remind us often of any distance that has ever been between You and us! Let it drive us to forever seek You, we pray!
