Mystery of Love

Ephesians 3:6

This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.  Ephesians 3:6  NIV

The children were jumping off a rooftop into a pile of leaves in the garden one day.  After much encouragement from the older children, the smaller boy managed to jump.  But, he did not make it far enough and he hurt his ankle in the fall.  The children were afraid that they would get into trouble so they planned to keep the injury a secret.  They tried to make it into the house by pushing toy cars so nobody would notice the injured leg.  It did not work.  When the injured boy saw his dad, he broke down in tears and told the whole story.  There is also a secret written in the Gospel that has been told.  Has this mystery of love been revealed to us?

The secret we stand to learn is not one of covered-up actions.  It is a secret of love.  Not every church has discovered it just yet.  The mystery that the Holy Spirit can whisper to our hearts is that God´s love stretches to and includes even those we would call sinners.  God can call and heal even gentiles, foreigners, and those who do not belong to our brand of religion.  Could we open our hearts to discover this mystery of love?  Could we discover that anyone who turns to Jesus can become one with Him, with us, and with the Father?  Shall we embrace others as we have been embraced?

Dear Lord,

Teach us today the mysteries and depths of Your love!  Help us to follow You in this mystery of love too, we pray!

Amen
