Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Ephesians 4:14 NIV
She came to talk to a friend because he was a Christian. Her soul was aching and she needed to know why. She came with questions. They prayed. Then before they opened the Bible, they discussed their Christian upbringings. It was a mistake. The woman never came back and the Bible never got opened. Darkness effectively blew them off from approaching God. The winds of doctrines, teachings, and infant faith swept away their chances that day. Could the winds of this world still blow us here and there? Could we still need to grow in our faith in Christ?
The mark of a good Christian is a hunger for more of God. There is a lot of smoke and whistles being blown in the name of God. But a true follower of Christ is just that because they have met Jesus. Truly encountering Jesus will light a fire that sets a soul hard after seeking more of Him. We become mature in our faith when we cultivate what little we know of God and it directs our lives. Every thought then is to be closer to the Lord! Shall we strive for enough growth in our faith that will show we have met Christ too?
Turn what little faith we have into a torrent that sweeps us ever closer to You! Blow us away with revelations of You that set us hard after You and show that we have spent time in Your overwhelming Presence today, we pray!
