Wake Up

Wake Up!

for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”  Ephesians 5:14  NIV

At sea, a man was rowing through the night.  They did not have much food on board so they had a line out in hopes for a fish.  Suddenly the line started singing.  He jumped up and reeled it in.  But to his surprise, it was no fish at all!  It was a seagull that had tangled itself in the line.  He quickly grabbed the bird and unhooked it from its trap.  He shouted to his rowing partner to wake up and help him.  But seconds stretched out into eternity as his friend struggled to open his eyes.  The bird thrashed and pecked violently at the man´s hands until finally, in desperation he threw the bird into the air.  If disappeared into the night sky.  Are we able to wake up when we are called?

We have been called to step into the Light of Jesus.  Our situation has everlasting consequences.  If we are unable to break through our slumber, we stand to lose much more than a bird.  We can lose our chance to approach God.  We can lose the opportunity of our lifetimes!  Jesus is the Light if we can open our eyes to see Him, then we will see much more than we can ever imagine!  If we can let our hearts hear His call and move ourselves enough, then we can be woken to a life everlasting.  Eternity will be ours to discover the wonders and riches of knowing the Lord!  Who can hear His call right now?  Shall we do our best to wake up to Him?

Dear Jesus,

Let us hear Your call and wake up to find You here, we pray!

Amen
