Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 NIV
They could hear the crowd from where they waited in the tunnel. The stadium was packed. The noise was deafening. Excitement hung in the air and affected the whole team. To the rookies, the moments seemed to stretch into an eternity. The anxiety continued to increase. One of them was so nervous that he was getting sick to his stomach. The old-timers felt a growing excitement too, but they were reveling in the sensation. They knew in a few short moments they would be out there before that gratifying crowd. Is there anything in our lives right now that makes us anxious?
Those who look to the Lord do not have to be anxious or worry about what may happen to us. We can be calm and restful knowing that our dear friend Jesus is right there by our side. We have His assurance that if we strive to be always with Him, then with Him is where we will be, forever. There is a good kind of anxiousness that can grow on us. This one is not a worry or fear. There is an increasing state of excitement that builds inside the hearts that know our Savior will soon return. We can savor this increasing desire to see His face and enter His warm embrace! Who would like to drop all our anxious thoughts and worry, and cling to the hope we have to soon be with our God?
Help us exchange all our anxious thoughts and hold to the thrilling thought of being in Your presence, we pray!
