And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 NIV
It was cold. It was below freezing. The house was empty. The young man had been dropped off there early in the morning. His boss had lined out the work he wanted to be done in this newly constructed home. The worker had obediently kept busy all morning even though he was feeling sorry for himself at this low point in his life. The house was on a steep hill and he could see down into an open field in the forest. Finally, it was break time. He grabbed his lunch and sat in a patch of sunshine on the balcony to warm himself. He was miserable. He hated the cold. He could think of a million places he would rather be. The weight of his life´s choices wore heavily on him. There on that freezing balcony, he needed his God. He prayed for peace to come to his soul. Do we know where to find peace in our upside-down world?
The young man´s situations were eventually changed by the providence of God. But it was painfully slow. The only peace he could find at times was being with his Lord. It is exactly that peace that is open for all of us. We too can have Jesus. We too can learn to trust God with all our troubles. When we go to God our attention shifts. Our Savior can come to us. With Him, comes an unfathomable peace that will guard us. Shall we seek Him now?
Take our pain and heavy thoughts as we turn our attention away from us and onto You, we pray!
