He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17 NIV
After many years and many miles, a man looked back on his life. He remembered each of his business ventures that resulted in closing doors. He thought of the earnings that had been accumulated but never retained. He painfully felt the investments that could have amounted to something, but sadly dropped into a loss. He took into account the loved ones who were now so far away that the joys and moments shared were only sweet memories. Then he thought of his Savior. God was all he had left to show for his journey through life. It had cost him a lifetime to make his walk with Jesus the important aspect of his life. But could Christ be that vital element that holds our life together gives it meaning?
Hard earned grey hair and a world of experiences may teach us a lot here in this world. But we only begin to truly learn when our failures and successes bring us to Jesus. Those who have learned this secret of finding their worth in God are the blessed children of His Kingdom. The Savior that we look to before all things, has the fullness of God dwelling in Him. He is our King. In Him, we find hope through every loss and strength to face whatever the future will hold. Who wants to walk with the One by whom and for whom all things were made? What will hold us together today?
Help us learn that it is You who truly holds it all together for eternity. Teach us to walk each step with You, we pray!
