And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 NIV
The wind was rushing through the open side of the plane. “Go!” He heard the shout and he dove into the void with eyes wide open and his heart in his throat. That first instant was unreal. All he could see was the plane above him fading into the distance between his shoes. Suddenly he felt the instructor who was strapped to his back, kicking his feet into position. The gesture brought him back to reality and they swung around to see the beautiful countryside below them. This was the young man´s first skydive, but he loved every bit of it. When they were safely on the ground all he could think about was doing it again. What do we like to do? And who do we like doing it for?
The Christian is called to be different. This does not mean that we cease to engage in the world around us. It means that instead of thinking of ourselves all the time, we think of Jesus. It means that as we form our likes, dislikes, our interests, and our plans, we do it with our Lord. We walk with Christ through each and every moment of our day. To walk with the Son of God is to feel the rush of flying through the air in His capable arms! Are we giving thanks to God for the experience we are having with Jesus now?
Help us to take a great leap of faith into You! Let our hearts soar with You far above all of the lower interest, we pray!
