What Is Our Crown?

1st Thessalonians 2:19 What Is Our Crown

For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? 1st Thessalonians 2:19  NIV

The little guy was so happy when his parents made him a glittering crown.  His daycare was putting on a Christmas show and he was chosen to be one of the 3 Kings. But when the moment came to put his crown on and go up on stage, he could not handle it.  It was all too much for him.  Instead of the bright smile and bubbly laughter he had when he saw his crown, now there were only tears.  He followed the other children on stage, but the entire time he wailed and cried instead of singing his Christmas song.  What is our crown like?  What is it that will make us smile in the end?

Some are brought to church with the enticing thought of eternal life.  Some seek a mansion in Heaven.  Some look for hope that their tears and suffering will end.  Jesus promises us a future with Him.  He died so that we would be made new.  He promises us that if we look to Him, then His image will be seen in us.  We will become like Him.  This means that we will learn to love others as He has loved us!  The crown we work towards and the one we set our hope in, could be one of shining smiles.  It can be one where God´s love is displayed in our natures.  Shall we pray that what we will one day wear is a glorious reflection of Christ´s love in us?

Dear Lord,

Help us to set our hopes on becoming more like You!  Let Your love fill us and crown us with a portrait of You, we pray!

Amen
