Appointed for Salvation

1st Thessalonians 5:9

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.  1st Thessalonians 5:9  NIV

It was a small aircraft.  The pilots needed to fly over a Northwest African country.  They did not have enough fuel to fly around it.  But that country was in a civil war.  They were firing ground-to-air missiles at any unidentified aircraft.  So the crew planned the flight at night.  They switched off their lights and flew as high as they could without carrying oxygen.  The entire flight, they prayed silently that they would not be discovered.  They made it across safely.  They were not appointed to die that night.  What about us?  Are we appointed to suffer wrath, or to receive salvation?

Some may try to tell us that a single firm declaration may place us on the safe end of eternity.  Some may have us believe that by joining their church will do the trick.  But God has forever been trying to let us know of His presence and wishes.  We need to realize that He is here and wants to engage with us.  We need to know that God wants to enter into a relationship with us.  To make it all possible, He gave us His Son.  Christ is our Mediator.  He is there with God pulling for us.  The ones appointed for Salvation will be those of us who are doing whatever we can to get to know our Savior.  Shall we examine our hearts today to see if God will be able to appoint us for salvation?

Dear Lord,

Let us come so close to You and walk with You so intimately that we will be safe from all of life´s perils, we pray!

Amen

  1. I really enjoyed this post. You correctly explained that we are created for salvation! Amen! If we believe that because of the hardships of this world we are destined for condemnation, we have already lost. Thanks for sharing this! Check out my blog as well for some complimentary posts! Be blessed!
