Love the Truth

2nd Thessalonians 2:10 Love the Truth

and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.  2nd Thessalonians 2:10  NIV

Doing a small remodeling job, two men went down to the large hardware store to get a window.  When they got there, they found the exact one they were looking for.  But it had a big red sticker that said it had already been sold.  Something got into the two men and they picked it up and walked right out of the store with it.  The checkout people barely looked at them as the window clearly had already been paid for.  But before the men could drive out of the parking lot, one of them got to thinking.  His conscious would not let him steal the window.  He parked the car and went back inside to tell the truth and to pay.  How do we feel about the Truth?

It was years later when the Holy Spirit was able to bring those two men back to God.  Yet the Truth had been with them all along.  We use the term “truth” to describe something that is not a lie.  But the real Truth is Jesus Christ.  Far from merely being honest, our Savior is the very essence of Truth.  He is true, He is right, even when we cannot see all that it encompasses.  People are perishing not because they do not know what is right.  They are lost because they do not know the One who is!  To know Jesus is to love Him.  To know Him is to be saved?  Would we like to get to know and love the most amazing Truth in person today?

Dear Jesus,

Give us the Truth and the Light!  Fill our lives with Your love!  Be the Truth we stand on, live by, and love forever, we pray!

Amen
