Direct Us

2nd Thessalonians 3:5 Direct Us

May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.  2nd Thessalonians 3:5  NIV

A delegation of American athletes was visiting a certain city in China one morning.  The city center had wide streets and tall buildings.  The athletes were buying souvenirs and marveling over the curiosities of the different culture.  There were thousands of bicycles lined up on the sidewalks.  Just then, all the owners of those bicycles along with thousands more began filling the streets and sidewalks.  It was lunchtime.  But now, it was the athletes who became the curious sight to see.  A quick-thinking guide rallied a couple of police officers who in turn stopped a local bus.  The entire delegation crowded into the small bus before the curious onlookers swamped them completely.  They were saved by the quick directing. Do we know where we are being directed now?

We may be completely engulfed in our busy societies today.  We may be unaware that there are many things that would crowd out our chances of walking through our day with our Lord Jesus Christ.  We could be in need of more than a little good directing too.  We may need some capable hands to help us stay in God´s love and close to Him.  Shall we pray today that the Lord will direct our hearts?  Can we pray for perseverance and timely direction?  Shall we ask that the Lord will see exactly what our hearts need and draw us safely to where He is?

Dear Lord,

Please help us through the unseen dangers of being separated from You!  Direct our hearts forever into Your love, we pray!

Amen
