Because You Are Young

1st Timothy 4:12 Because You Are Young

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.  1st Timothy 4:12  NIV

The little guy was not exceptionally fond of boats.  He had been on enough of them to know they made him queasy.  But his family was visiting a tropical reef and he did not want to miss out on the glass-bottom boat tour.  He tried to watch the horizon until they stopped for a while over the reef to look at the fish below.  His brothers grabbed the goggles offered to them and leaped in to try snorkeling.  He stayed in the boat.  One of his brothers tried swimming under the boat, but as he neared the surface on the other side, all the fish came rushing to the surface before him.  He was startled and went back the other way.  When he arrived at the surface he could see the reason why.  The little guy was hanging over the side of the boat emptying his sick stomach.

Many times people forgive us our worse moments because we are young.  They will not hold it against us if we stumble and sometimes fall.  But there is a wonderful thing in believing in God and His Son, that no matter how young we are, we can be an inspiration to others.  If our faith is strong, even the most mature Christian can see our devotion to the Lord and marvel.  Shall we pray that whatever age we find ourselves in, we are so involved in being with our God, no one could ever possibly look down on us?

Dear Lord,

Take us by the hand and lead us near to You!  Let us remain so close to You that all those around will be inspired, we pray!

Amen
