Not Because We Deserve

2nd Timothy 1:9 Not Because We Deserve

who has saved us and called us to a holy life–not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,  2nd Timothy 1:9  NIV

On a commercial flight one day, a man asked to visit the cockpit.  When the flight attendant returned him to his seat, she asked the man´s younger friend if he wanted to go too.  He gladly went with her.  The captain and copilot greeted him cheerfully and offered him a small fold-down seat just a little behind their shoulders.  They showed him all the different levers and explained what they did.  The youth was so enveloped in the experience that he forgot the time.  Pretty soon, the pilots announced that it was time to prepare for landing at their destination.  They invited the boy to stay and watch.  He was overjoyed to accept their kindness.

The young man´s friend and the rest of the passengers looked puzzled when the plane was taxiing to the terminal and the boy stepped out of the cockpit.  But his heart was racing because of the favor he had been shown.  Those who love Jesus also enter into an experience that we do not deserve on our own.  God opens His arms, His heart, and His Kingdom to those who choose His Son as their Savior.  Would we like to open ourselves to receive grace from above even if we do not quite deserve it?  Shall we turn to Jesus, God´s very own Son, and see what grace we can find now?

Dear Lord,

Give us the greatest experience of our lives.  Let us come to know You and walk with the Son of God today, we pray!

Amen
