At God´s Right Hand

Hebrews 1:13 At God´s Right Hand

To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? Hebrews 1:13 NIV

Before an NBA basketball game, a young fan had the privilege of sitting by the court to watch his favorite stars as they warmed up. As he sat there an even more famous legend walked in and sat down two seats away from him. It was Magic Johnson! The boy could not believe his eyes! He had grown up watching this all-time great play! And here he was sitting at his hero´s right hand! What does it mean to us to have our Savior sitting at the right hand of God?

We use many different ways to measure things in this world. We can use size, weight, distance, price, and so on. These values all have their place in our realm. But we take a giant step up in significance when we consider proximity to God. Being close to God is better measured in Spirit and in our relationship. One can say that they are close to God because of the way they act or because of their status in the church, but we know that these methods are subject to human limitations. True nearness to God is only achieved by being with Him. It is attained by increasingly coming to know and love Him. Being close to God is the single most valuable honor available to anyone! Jesus holds the seat of honor! He is the closest! He is so near to God that it has been said they are One! And Jesus is our Savior! He can be our Friend! Shall we pray that we grow closer today to the One at God´s right hand?

Dear Lord,

Let us trust nothing short of being with You!  Grow our relationship so that we come closer to You each day, we pray!

Amen
