The one thing that should distinguish us is the one thing that will save us. The singlemost important element of our faith is our desire for the presence of God.
Many call themselves His, but fewer people all the time are dying to be with Him. We have gotten distracted along the way. Few people stop long enough to consider where their souls stand with God anymore.
It is time to drop down on our knees. It is high time we ask the Lord to scrutinize what is going on in our hearts. Do these hearts burn for Him? Or are we happy enough to let them go out to everything else? It will not suffice when we reach Heaven´s door to have yearned for lesser things. Rather than striving for a world of religious business, let us make sure that it is God who we come to. Demand to have our intentions judged.
Dear Lord,
Look into our souls. Show us if we yearn for You and not just for theories, interpretations, or the better Christian works. Be the One we live for. Come to us and correct all that remains far from You. Strike us with severe longing for You – we pray!
