It is easy to think that our faith is under attack when we face hard times in life. As difficult as those moments are, they will only strengthen the bond between us and our Savior. True believers lean harder on Christ when the going gets tough. He becomes their strength. But the subtle yet dangerous attack on our faith comes when we least expect it.
Complacency or pride in our declaration of faith are genuine threats. They ambush every child of God. They will woo us into relaxing our search for more of the Lord. Our need for His presence can be stolen from us at any moment.
Dear Lord, You have warned us that our lives will have dark valleys. So let us draw near and lean on You. But also, keep us close when the sun shines. We don´t want to stop pressing close to You when we cannot detect any danger. Instead, keep us thirsty for more of Your presence each day we pray. Amen
For we don’t have here an enduring city, but we seek that which is to come. Hebrews 13:14 (WEB)
