If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13 (NIV)
He is teaching. Jesus is leading us forward in our thinking. He is opening our awareness to the secrets of His Father´s Kingdom. He is showing us how to communicate. He is teaching us how to approach God. He is so into what He is trying to convey that He reaches a high-point in His instruction to us.
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. (Verse 9-10)
Is He successfully making a connection between us and the Father? Does He try to unite us? Does He rightfully bring us into the very Presence of God for what we need? Does He bring us to the place and the One, who can and will supply? Is He assuring us of receiving what we truly desire? Could we finally be arriving at the conclusion of all our wandering and searching? Are we nearing the end of our quest? Are we finally reaching our goal? Will the floodgates soon be opened up unto us? Will the blessings soon follow? If so, then what is it that we are asking for? What are these great blessings we seek? What prize did we come to this door to ask for?
Have we come to the Lord to ask for some gain here on earth? Are we seeking for an easier and more comfortable life here? Are we knocking on the door to see if pleasure and riches are opened up for us now? Or have we come to seek a Presence? Is there Someone whom we seek? Is it God and His Kingdom which we would have opened up unto us? What does our heart say? When we are on our knees and honestly directing ourselves to Him, what does our soul tell us? What is it that the Spirit whispers to us when we come to Him? Can we even hear Him? Do we even care?
Would it be worthy of an Righteous God that the riches of knowing Him and loving Him are opened up unto those who truly care to be close to Him? Should the blessings of the Lord be reserved for those who actually want to be with Him? Should He cast away His favors on those who care not to seek Him, come to Him or commune with Him? Or is it beautiful that those burning hearts who strongly desire Him over all else, are the ones who get the promised reward? Is it everlastingly sweet to think of those who could not live without Him are receiving more than their share of Him? Is the most precious commodity that the Lord could ever bestow, be sharing Himself with them? Could our greatest Prize be the Spirit of the Lord flowing into us? Could the One thing we need be the Holy Spirit flooding into us with His power, understanding and love? Is that what we seek? Is that what we ask for? Is that what we would have opened up for us?
Dear Jesus, let us come today. Show us how to make our petition real. Teach us to come to You. Teach us to pray. Teach us what to ask for. Fill us with a burning desire that moves us to seek You, the Father and Your Kingdom. Give us strength and assure us success in our search for You. Then open the door for us too. Open unto us all the riches of knowing the Lord. May the glorious Spirit God be given to us for our asking! May we be the recipients of the greatest of all prizes, may we receive the Lord in our hearts right here, right now!
