Jesus Above The Clouds

Jesus Above The Clouds

After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.  Acts 1:9 (NIV)

His work in the flesh is finished.  He has gone to the grave for us and came back.  Now Jesus is suddenly is lifted up.  He is taken up into the clouds in front of their eyes.  It is His time to return to the Father.  But what a way to go!  Men just don´t fly up above the clouds like that outside of the movies.  But Jesus is not a normal Man.  He is the Son of God.  On top of that, if God wants men to fly, it is completely within His power to lift them up.  Marvelous?  Unexplainable?  Miraculous?

Today we tend to steer clear of anything touching the surreal.  What we cannot explain, we doubt.  If we cannot see something happening within the reason of science, we either mistrust it or push it out of our minds and try not to think about.  But can we afford to do that when it comes to Christ?  Could we admit the argument of the world, but place our hope in the power of God despite all that we know of science, physics and our entire universe?  Can we let Jesus be lifted up higher than the clouds for us?  Can we look beyond the skies and hope to find our Risen Lord way above and beyond even our own wildest dreams?

Dear Jesus,

There are so many amazing things to consider in You that it overwhelms our powers of reason.  Please give us the strength of faith to believe all that You would have us believe about You!  Let us give God the credit for being able to do things we cannot explain and cannot imagine.  Be lifted up in our vision of You, in our hearts and in our praise now we pray!
