Spirit Power

Spirit Power

‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  Acts 1:8 (NIV)

Jesus promises the Holy Spirit to His followers.  He speaks directly to the ones who have followed Him through it all.  We see how His words played out in the lives of those He promised His Spirit to.  The Apostles were filled with the Spirit of God in a powerful Way.  Their testimony still reverberates throughout our world.  Yet how often do the words of Jesus reach us?  How much of what Jesus promises do we take to heart?  How often do we let the words Jesus says effect our lives and prepare inside us a ground where He can work?

The Holy Spirit is promised to the faithful and those who would seek to be filled.  This Power from above is to come to those special few who are found in such a Way where they can receive It.  Is this going to be us today?  Do we truly want the Spirit of God to wash over us, fill us to overflowing and drive us closer to the Lord?  If so, then what are we doing to prepare ourselves, our hearts and our lives for this Spirit Power?  Have we even made room for Him in our busy schedules?  Are we ready for the ride of our lives?

Dear Lord,

Humble us like never before.  Empty us of all else to prepare us for You.  Create in us a need to be filled with Your Holy Spirit.  Let nothing stand in Its way!  Fill us now!  Fill us to overflowing!  Fill us with a Power from out of this world to take us surely to You in Your World!

Amen
