Our Blame

Our Blame

This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.  Acts 2:23 (NIV)

Everyone knows the story.  It has been told and referred to all over the place.  Peter puts to words the fact that the very people Jesus came to save from their waywardness all have their part in putting Him to death.  With the help of wicked ones even we are included.  Have we never stepped out on our own?  Have we chased our own desires?  Can we call ourselves blameless?  Because we are born with our tendency to turn our backs on God, we need a Saviour.  The Father knew this and purposefully planned for our pardon.  This ransom was paid when Christ was nailed to the cross.

It is a fundamental part of our Christian faith that we admit that we have not always done nor always do what God wants of us.  The person who will not humble him or herself sets themselves above God, law and the Scriptures.  They already choose not to need the very thing God says they need.

Do we realize each moment of every day just how much we are in need of the saving grace of Christ?  Do we truly accept our blame and seek to be right in the Presence of the One Who sets us free?

Dear Lord,

Forgive us for not placing the importance where it should go.  Forgive us for not needing You always like we know we should.  Give us as healthy sense of our guilt and our blame so we seek You and need you now we pray!

Amen
