Fighting Against God

But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”  Acts 5:39 (NIV)

If a movement is man´s workings then it will have man´s limited outcome.  But if God is at work, then He will have His planned outcome.  Gamaliel´s testimony shows correctly that God will not be mocked in the end.  He is intent on bringing His true children Home to Him.  He is in control.  Anyone who would try to take this right from Him will only make fools of themselves one day.

Christians could try to use this fact to make ourselves feel better in the face of scrutiny or oppression.  But the truth is that it judges us all.  It is more crucial to believers than it is to the unbeliever.  Should our current movement in faith be towards some hidden human or personal goal, then it will come into the Light in the end.  But if it truly brings people´s hearts into communion with God, then it will surely bring Him His reward.

God gives His Son.  Mankind may object.  We can resist.  But God will have the hearts of those that choose to come and seek Him instead of comforts, tradition, lofty ideals, and even fine thinking.  What will we show the world today?  Will we share a relationship with the Father through His Son?  Or will we fight against God?

Dear Lord,

There are movements pushing lesser goals.  But let us not fight against Your will.  Let people truly come to know our God through Jesus!  Let us push for nothing less we pray!

Amen

  1. Thanks for the positive comments and a being a like-minded, heart-felt seeker after the Lord. You are right, not many are willing to place themselves as urgently needing more of God these days. So many are congratulating themselves for having made a declaration of faith then celebrating their imagined free ticket into heaven. Oh, if only there were more followers who burned within to be in the presence of our God.
