Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. Acts 6:8
We may not be able to change certain things like which family we were born into. But we are able to choose what kind of person we will be. Education, refinement and a host of assistance are all available to those who open themselves to pursuing it. Some care, some don´t. Some just shrug their shoulders to the responsibility of their own outcome. Others choose to be known by their religion. But what kind of person is it that we want to be? How would we like people to see us? Do we know? Do we care?
Stephen is described as a person who performed great wonders. He worked miracles among the people. Was this because of his education? Was it because he belonged to the right sect? Or did the grace God favored him with come to him as a result of his remarkable faith in God? Could the power that flowed into and through this man be a direct reaction to how much of God he sought to have within his own heart and soul?
Today we have a choice. We can choose to make much or little of ourselves. We can gain recognition for the progress we make in this world or our religion. But who of us will choose to stand closer to the Lord? Who will seek His power and grace in them to be their distinguishing features? Are we that kind of person?
Please pour out Your power and Your grace upon us today. But let it be because we have found more of You we pray!
