Oppose God

So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?”  Acts 11:17  (NIV)

Here we have a gathering of believers.  They have sold everything to step out in faith in Jesus Christ.  They have professed their belief in the Savior.  They are being scattered because they speak in His name.  They worship together, they sing and pray.  The Spirit of God has come to them.  Yet even as far as they have travelled with the Lord they still misjudge the love and workings of our Heavenly Father.  How is this possible?  Some are still skeptical that God loves everyone!  How can this happen within the fold??  Some criticize or oppose the plans of God!  Peter learned of this error and that to pursue God we must change, have we?

Who knows the plans of God?  Who know exactly when and where He is working?  Who knows what mighty sinner He is working to save right now?  How often do we stand in His way?  How many times do we oppose God by failing to see where His intentions for His children and the salvation of our race are going?  Should we pray to bring ourselves back in tune with Him now?  Should we pray that our eyes are opened too?  Shall we pray today that the Spirit may draw us closer and let us work along with Him?

Dear Lord,

Draw us so near to You now that we can see where Your heart is going!  Show us how to radiate Your love and Your working in and all around us now!  Keep us so close to You that we never oppose Your plans to save Your children we pray!

Amen
